The creature behind the name

What is Homa?

Homa — هما — is a mythical bird of Persian legend: a creature of the sky associated with fortune, blessing and kingship. In many tellings, it never settles on the earth; even the passing of its shadow can be an omen of good fortune.

Seeds of Hom takes its name from that image. The Homa moves above borders while carrying an old Persian symbol forward — the same feeling this site is built around: entering Persian through the poetry, memory, history and rituals that have travelled with it.

A language carried by stories — still moving, still returning.
